คำอธิบายรายวิชา

เนื้อหาวิชาภาษาอังกฤษอ่าน-เขียนเชิงวิชาการสำหรับบัณฑิตศึกษาออกแบบมาเพื่อพัฒนาและฝึกฝนทักษะการอ่านและการเขียนเชิงวิชาการในระดับพื้นฐาน เนื้อหาวิชานี้เตรียมความพร้อมผู้เรียนให้สามารถสืบค้น วิเคราะห์ ตีความ ข้อมูลที่ได้รับ รวมทั้งฝึกผู้เรียนให้รู้จักเลือกข้อมูลจากแหล่งสารสนเทศทุกรูปแบบได้อย่างเหมาะสม การเรียนเน้นให้ผู้เรียนได้ศึกษาค้นคว้าหาความรู้ได้ด้วยตนเอง สามารถนำความรู้ที่ได้ ไปแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ทำกิจกรรมการศึกษา ทั้งในและนอกห้องเรียน ช่วยผู้เรียนให้ได้ต่อยอดความรู้ที่มีอยู่ให้ลึกซึ้งและกว้างขวางมากขึ้น ผู้เรียนจะได้ฝึกการคิดขั้นสูง การแสดงความคิดเห็นเชิงวิเคราะห์ (Analytical Thinking) การแสดงความคิดเห็นเชิงวิพากษ์ (Critical Thinking) และการนำความรู้ที่ได้รับจากการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษในรูปแบบต่าง ๆตามสาขาวิชาที่ศึกษาอยู่มาใช้ด้วยความเข้าใจอย่างถูกต้องและเหมาะสม เมื่อผู้เรียนเรียนจบและผ่านบททด สอบตามกำหนดของรายวิชา ผู้เรียนจะสามารถนำความรู้ที่ได้จากการอ่านมาปรับใช้ ถ่ายทอด และนำเสนอผลงานทางวิชาการเป็นภาษาอังกฤษได้อย่างเต็มศักยภาพและด้วยความมั่นใจ โดยจะเห็นพัฒนาการทั้งทักษะการอ่านและทักษะการเขียนที่มีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้น สามารถเขียนในรูปแบบต่าง ๆ เขียนบทคัดย่อ และเขียนวิทยานิพนธ์ เป็นภาษาอังกฤษได้ถูกต้องตามมาตรฐานการเรียนในระดับบัณฑิตศึกษา Academic Reading and Writing for Graduate Program is designed to develop and enhance graduate students’ basic reading and writing skills. The course prepares students for researching, analyzing and interpreting the data they encounter; as well as training them to select relevant details from various information outlets. The instruction of this course place emphasis on encouraging students to undergo self-study, seek new knowledge on their own and be able to apply said knowledge to educational exchanges and activities, both in and outside the classroom. This will help to reinforce a deeper and wider understanding for the students as they will learn how to hone higher-order thinking, analytical thinking and critical thinking skills, together with knowing how to utilize the knowledge they gained from reading the myriad of English-language materials in their respective fields of study with full and appropriate understanding. Once the students have completed and passed each stage of the course, they will be able to adapt, convey and present academic findings, based on what they have read, in English to their fullest potential and with confidence. Students can expect to develop both reading and writing skills on a more efficient scale. They will also be able to produce different styles of written work, write abstract and compose thesis in English in accordance to the standard required at graduate level.

วัตถุประสงค์การเรียนรู้ (LO)
1.  ผู้เรียนสามารถอ่านผลงานทางวิชาการที่เป็นภาษาอังกฤษ โดยสามารถวิเคราะห์หาความหมายที่แท้จริงของข้อมูลได้ถูกต้องและเหมาะสม Students are able to read academic materials in English and equipped to analyze and discern true meanings behind each data with accuracy and aptness.
2. ผู้เรียนสามารถเขียนภาษาอังกฤษเชิงวิชาการเช่น การเขียนรายงาน การเรียงความ และ บทความทางวิชาการ โดยใช้หลักการเขียนได้อย่างถูกต้อง เหมาะสม มีความครอบคลุม มีความกระชับ และมีประสิทธิภาพ สอดคล้องกับสิ่งที่ต้องการสื่อสารตามที่เจ้าของภาษาใช้จริง (Collocation) Students are able to use academic English when writing reports, essays and academic journals in a way that is correct, appropriate, holistic, concise and efficient; true to the messages that the original authors intended.
3.  ผู้เรียนสามารถถ่ายทอดผลงานทางวิชาการของตนผ่านบทคัดย่อ (Abstract) และเขียนวิทยานิพนธ์เป็นภาษาอังกฤษได้อย่างถูกต้อง ตามกฎระเบียบของหลักการเขียนวิทยานิพนธ์ และไม่ผิดต่อกฎระเบียบของการคัดลอกและอ้างอิงงานเขียนของผู้อื่น (Plagiarism) Students are able to express themselves academically through their abstract and compose theses that are grammatically sound and abide by the principles of thesis writing without committing any violations in terms of plagiarism.
